News From
Room 208
Edition 3 October 8, 2009
Dear families,
This week we have been reflecting on our Eagle fern experience. We are making a class book about our time there. We started our forest frieze as an attempt to bring the forest back to our classroom. I am enjoying watching the students develop new friendships. Eagle Fern was a great community building experience.
In Writer’s Workshop, we are working on punctuation of dialogue. They are working on a short fantasy story. Some students were very excited about this project with tons of ideas. I look forward to reading the stories next week.
Our study of The Ancient One continues. I gave a pop quiz last week that was painful for those students who were behind in their reading. Everyone has a different opinion about the book, which leads to interesting conversations. I think that this is what being a community of readers is all about.
Progress reports go out next week for students who are at a C grade or below. I created a homework reminder slip for those with late assignments. In addition, I plan on keeping students after school on Thursdays if they are missing any assignments.
Thank you for your support, Indigo
