DescriptionJoin us as we mulch hundreds of native trees and shrubs that were planted this past winter! Our Tree Care events help to ensure the highest level of plant survival through our dry summer months. This project is in partnership with the Johnson Creek Watershed Council and Portland Parks & Recreation and is supported by the East Multnomah Soil & Water Conservation District and Metro. Please arrive around 8:45am to be registered and assigned to a crew. The event will start promptly at 9:00am. We provide breakfast snacks and hot chocolate/coffee, as well as gloves, tools and guidance. Please come dressed for the weather and wearing sturdy shoes and get ready to have fun! Looking to volunteer as a group? RSVPs are kindly requested for groups of more than 5 people - click HERE to do so. RSVPs are not required for groups of 4 or less. Mt. Tabor Park Restoration Event

Mt. Tabor Park (Inner SE) – invasive species removal (occassional plant care or other restoration projects)
Last Saturday of the month, 9:00 AM-noon (March - October)
Join Portland Parks & Recreation and the Friends of Mt. Tabor Park to remove invasive species to restore wildlife habitat and to encourage native species regeneration to prevent erosion and water run-off. Please wear long pants and long sleeves, sturdy shoes and a rain/sunhat and bring a backpack, rain gear and water bottle. Instruction, tools, gloves, coffee/tea, water and KIND Snacks will be provided.
Meet at: main parking lot on Mt. Tabor (next to the basketball court and ampitheater), accessed by the SE 60th & Salmon park entrance.
Driving directions: I-84 East to the SE 58th St. exit. From the exit, turn left onto Glisan St. and then immediately right onto NE 60th. Drive south on SE 60th. There is a traffic light at SE Salmon; turn left here and follow the road up into the Park to the main parking lot. OR drive west on SE Division to SE 60th, turn north (right) onto SE 60th and then right (east) onto SE Salmon at the traffic light.  
Tri-met: Bus #71 to the Salmon Street entrance: Take the first trail to the left when you enter the park and then take the next road to the left. #15 to the Yamhill Street entrance: walk up the right entrance road to the main parking lot.

Finish reading your novel! Do week four homework. AND fill out the assignment sheet given at beginning of the book
Each week when we meet you will need to do one of the following:
1.      Write a letter to or from a character in the book.
  1. Use post-it-notes to mark 5 places in the book you would like to discuss- write why on the post-it.
  2. Research 5 facts about the location your book takes place.
  3. Draw a picture on a different paper of a scene in the book

All 8th grade portfolios must be finished and at school

River cleanup Willamette River- bring lunch and water and dress appropriate for the weather
