Here are some upcoming community service and gardening opportunities:
  • This coming Friday (May 8) is SES only early release at 11:45am. At that time, Vinnie and Jan will take small group who sign up down to our Lavender Lot near 13th and Division. This would count as gardening.
  • May 16 is a training with Our Children's Trust (Jan Zuckerman has brought them in to speak at Morning Meeting about climate change issues). It is a free training for Youth Climate Action Now. Contact Meg Ward at meg@ourchildrenstrust.org for more information or email Jan at ses_janz@yahoo.com. 10am-4pm with lunch and snacks provided at Concordia. I can help coordinate rides if multiple students are interested.
  • Portland Parks & Rec have some upcoming projects--please look over the requirements to determine if an adult needs to be present. Susan Hawes is the contact and has worked with SES for years. Contact her with questions.
  • There will be opportunities to get service at this Friday's Earth Night event at SES from 6-8pm. Students need to check in with me about that possibility, if interested.
