[Grade 7] March 31-April 5: 2016 4-H Urban-to-Rural Exchange Program

Registration is now open for Portland 4-H's Urban-to-Rural Exchange Program for Sunnyside 7th grade students. To apply:
  • STEP 1:  Fill out online application by Wednesday, February 17

PLEASE NOTE: All applications need to be submitted online. If you need additional assistance with this, please contact Courtney Lobo at 971-361-9629. Space is limited, so get your application in by the deadline.

  • STEP 2:  A committee of school and 4-H staff will review the applications and 4-H will contact applicants by March 1 with decisions.

  • STEP 3:  If youth is accepted, they will be sent additional forms which need to be completed, along with electronically submitting a photo and letter of introduction to the host family.
This is the 10th anniversary of this program, which allows Middle School youth to walk a mile in the boots of those across the urban-rural divide and, through the process, gain a deeper understanding of the environmental, social and economic issues from both an urban and rural perspective.

Oregon State University Extension and Portland 4-H is offering this exchange program from March 31 through April 5. Please consider this chance for your 7th grader to live and work alongside a rural Oregon 4-H family for 6 days and 5 nights.

Learn more about the program in OPB's Oregon Field Guide, Crossing the Urban-Rural Divide or by contacting Courtney Lobo at 971-361-9629 or courtney.lobo@oregonstate.edu.
